Games – Ohio Newsletter: September 2018

All,

Welcome to the 2019 season-year for most games. If you go to https://gamesoh.wordpress.com/, you can see all of the league start times for Pokemon, CardFight: Vanguard, Dragon Ball Super, HeroClix, Transformers and Yu-Gi-Oh at north-central Ohio hobby shops that are part of Games – Ohio.

This month, Level Two Games in Avon begins with Official Tournament Store status from Konami for Yu-Gi-Oh! Plus, the new Transformers Trading Card Game releases on the 28th, but we are going to meet on the 27th to talk everything Transformers. We also have both Pokemon trading card and video game events this month as well as a CardFight: Vanguard Sneak Peek at the start of October.

Based out of Level Two Games, I have come up with a few activities to fill Thursdays. One event is a night where I live stream participants playing their favorite games via social media. The other night is trivia with cash prizes! I have to warn you, my first trivia night will have softball questions to ease you into it… The second trivia night in October will almost require a thinking cap like the one Doc Brown wears in Back to the Future.

Thanks to Ryan Patterson, I judged a Pokemon League Cup on September 1 and our very own league member, Josh Vardous, won the Master Division. Congratulations! The League Cup was held at The POP Shop in Sandusky and had over 50 players in attendance.

Speaking of Pokemon, starting this month, I will be pushing back the start time of Pokemon events at Level Two Games to 7 PM. While league will still be from 6 to 9 PM, any league tournaments, League Challenges and Premier Challenges after September 6 will begin at 7 PM. Not only does this give our core players a little more time to get to league after work, it allows me to start the other events occurring on the same day without being overwhelmed.

Two things that I am excited about this month… The Yu-Gi-Oh Legendary Duelists: White Dragon Abyss booster set and the Pokemon Dragons Majesty Elite Trainer Box. I cannot wait to make some new decks for these trading card games.
