Game Rules (Standard Formats)

The standard formats are what is known to be the most recent game rule set. Most players implicitly play under the rules of the standard format. Officially sanctioned championship tournaments typically occur under a game’s standard rule format.

Cardfight: Vanguard TCG Rules: Standard format [Clan Fight] (legal/modified-constructed), no proxy cards and six (6) damage cards. Time Limit(s): Thirty (30) minutes per single game or 45 minutes per best of three match. Sudden death only in single-elimination game play.

Dragon Ball Super TCG Rules: Standard format (legal/modified-constructed), no proxy cards and six (8) damage cards. Time Limit(s): Thirty (30) minutes per single game or 45 minutes per best of three match. At the point where time has been called, the last player to begin will be permitted to complete a final turn. If there is no winner, then the game is a draw.

HeroClix CMG Rules: Standard format (legal/modified-constructed), no proxy clix and 300 total character points. Time Limit(s): Thirty (30) minutes per single game or 60 minutes per best of three match. Sudden death only in single-elimination game play.

Kaijudo TCG Rules: Standard format (legal/modified-constructed), no proxy cards and five (5) shield cards. Time Limit(s): Forty (40) minutes per single game or 50 minutes per best of three match plus five (5) turns. Sudden death only in single-elimination game play.

Magic: The Gathering TCG Rules: Standard, Modern, Vintage or Legacy format (legal/modified-constructed), no proxy cards and 20 hit points. Time Limit(s): Forty (40) minutes per single game or 50 minutes per best of three match plus five (5) turns. Sudden death only in single-elimination game play.

Mario Kart Rules: Standard Rules – Four (4) races, any speed, no DLC characters, no computer controlled players, all items set to off/none and non-DLC courses selected at random. Conducted via local play or Internet connection. Time Limit(s): None.

Pokemon TCG Rules: Standard, Extended or Unlimited format (legal/modified-constructed), no proxy cards and six (6) prize cards. Time Limit(s): Thirty (30) minutes per single game or 45 minutes per best of three match, plus three (3) turns. No sudden death. Pokemon TCG Online maintains its own time limits and requires an Internet connection via a computer.

Pokemon VG Rules: Standard format (legal/modified-VGC), double battle, six (6) different Pokemon placed in the Battle Box, two (2) Pokemon cannot hold the same named item, no banned Pokemon. These are level 50 Flat Battles with Normal Rules. For Black & White, no Wonder Launchers and conducted via the Union Room found in most Pokemon Centers. For X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, can use only Kalos/Hoenn bred and caught Pokemon found in the National Pokedex, no Soul Dew and conducted via the Pokemon Search System infrared (IR) or Internet connection. For Sun & Moon, can use only Alola bred and caught Pokemon found in the Alola Pokedex, no Mega Stones and conducted via Festival Plaza. For UltraSun & UltraMoon, can use only black clover, Alola bred and caught Pokemon found in the Alola Pokedex and conducted via Festival Plaza. Time Limit(s): In BWXYORAS, 15 minutes per single game or 45 minutes per best of three match. In SM & USM, 20 minutes plus three (3) turns per single game or 50 minutes plus three (3) turns per best of three match. Sudden death only in single-elimination game play.

Pokken Tournament Rules: Standard Rules – The permitted Main Battle Pokemon are Blaziken, Pikachu, Lucario, Gardevoir, Pikachu Libre, Sceptile, Gengar, Machamp, Braixen, Chandelure, Suicune, Weavile, Charizard & Garchomp. The permitted Support Pokemon are Emolga and Fennekin, Snivy and Lapras & Frogadier and Eevee. The Main Battle and Support Pokemon may not be switched during a match. Use the standard Cheer Skill only and for the Battle Stages, select from the Ferrum Stadium, Tellur Town, Ferrum Dojo & Training Gym. Conducted via either local play or Internet connection. Time Limit(s): Eighty (80) seconds.

Super Smash Brothers Rules (2 Players): Standard Rules – Two (2) stock, no Miis, no computer controlled players, all items set to off/none, specific stages (Battlefield, Delfino Plaza, Duck Hunt, Final Destination, Lylat Cruise, Miiverse, Smashville, The Halberd, Town & City) and any omega stages selected at random and no equipped characters. Conducted via either local play or Internet connection. Time Limit(s): Six (6) minutes. *

Super Smash Brothers Rules (3+ Players): Standard Rules – Five (5) stock, no Miis, no computer controlled players, all items set to off/none, specific stages (Battlefield, Delfino Plaza, Duck Hunt, Final Destination, Lylat Cruise, Miiverse, Smashville, The Halberd, Town & City) and any omega stages selected at random and no equipped characters. Conducted via either local play or Internet connection. Time Limit(s): 15 minutes. *

Transformers TCG Rules: Standard format (legal/modified-constructed), no proxies, a team of Character Cards worth a maximum of 25 stars and at least 40 Battle Cards. Time Limit(s): Thirty (30) minutes per single game or 50 minutes per best of three match.

Yu-Gi-Oh TCG Rules: Advanced or Traditional format (legal/modified-constructed), no proxy cards and 8,000 life points. Time Limit(s): Fifteen (15) minutes per single game or 40 minutes per best of three match, plus three (3) turns in single-elimination or five (5) turns in swiss rounds. Sudden death only in single-elimination game play.
