Welcome to the Super Smash Brothers Online webpage.
The following sections are a number of steps for registering and participating in a tournament. Keep in mind that these rules may be adjusted for sponsored events. Those adjustments would be found on the sponsor’s website. Otherwise, what is not mentioned on a sponsor’s website or the tournament page that is found here remains the same.
All online tournaments must have “Online” in its name when created as a means to not confuse players between what is an online tournament and what is not.
If you do not sign up on Challonge.Com (Step One) and join the tournament on Challonge.Com (Step Two), you will not be part of the tournament. Entry is first come, first served as some tournaments may only allow for a maximum number of participants to register.
If the tournament requires that you register via an online submission form and you do not, you will be removed from the tournament. We need matching Challonge.Com Usernames to confirm a legitimate entry. The Online Registration page of is where you would submit your information provided that there is a form and it is named the same as the tournament. You will need to submit your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth and Challonge.Com Username. You will only need to provide your e-mail address if you want to join the Games – Ohio mail list. Future event details will be included in the monthly newsletter.
– Step One (1) –
Visit Challonge.Com and sign up, if you do not already have an account. We will be using the Challonge.Com website for player contact, reporting, bracket advancement and discussion. Remember to write down your Challonge.Com Username.
– Step Two (2) –
To join the tournament, visit the Challonge.Com Games – Ohio Organization page. From there, find the tournament that you wish to join and click the link. Once on the tournament’s page, click the join button.
Challonge.Com will send match notifications (also indicating who will be your opponent) at the start of each round via e-mail as well as private message, provided that you have enabled those options in your account Settings.
– Step Three (3) –
If the tournament requires that you pay an entry fee, order it via our Shop. Add the item to your cart, view the cart and checkout. Follow the instructions until the transaction has been completed.
Now it is time to wait patiently for the pairings to be finalized and the tournament to begin. While you are waiting, you may feel free to like the Games – Ohio Facebook page so that you can receive details about future events. You may also find the Events page for the tournament and join it. That way you can invite friends to join. Just keep in mind that all tournament discussions will be held via the Challonge.Com “Discussion” page for that tournament.
– Step Four (4) –
Once the brackets are paired, you then must use the Challonge.Com Private Message system to exchange connection information with your opponent(s) and schedule your battle. Remember to include the tournament organizer as a recipient of the message so that they can monitor responses. Players have a set amount of time to respond to their opponent(s), meet, battle and report the results to Challonge.Com. Matching reports will auto-advance the brackets. If your bracket does auto-advance, do not challenge your next round opponent(s) until the scheduled period, unless otherwise specified. Mismatched reports will force administrative interference and may delay the tournament, especially if players proceed ahead of the round officially beginning. If by the end of the round your opponent(s) has not contacted you or the battle never occurred, see “Issuing a complaint”.
Your connection information will be different depending upon the game type. For the video game based upon the Nintendo Wii, online play was disabled as of May 2014. For video games based upon the Nintendo Wii U, players must exchange a network identification. For the video games based upon the Nintendo 2DS/3DS, players must exchange a system-specific friend code. Please consult the game’s official website for details about obtaining your connection information.
– Step Five (5) –
Once you report your final round’s results, you may return to your regularly scheduled life. Only one can be the tournament champion!
This Nintendo Wii version of this game has a modification know as Project M that we may utilize during in-person events. If the modification will be utilized, the usage will be displayed in the event listing.
