Linksys MR9000 Max-Stream AC3000 Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 5 Router | GameBreak

Today we are reviewing the Linksys MR9000 Max-Stream AC3000 Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 5 Router. As with any Internet device, the best way to review it is to compare it to the device that it is replacing, test each of the connections and compare the features. In this case, we are testing against the Linksys WRT AC1200 Dual-Band and Wi-Fi Wireless Router.

The tests were performed with the Speedtest.Net applications on a Dell desktop for LAN and WIFI running Windows 10 and a Motorola Droid Turbo running Android 7 for the Velop WIFI. The network is Spectrum Cable with a 100 Mbps connection.

The Linksys WRT AC1200 Dual-Band and Wi-Fi Wireless Router was connected to a Velop mesh router, so our tests will include both LAN, WIFI and via the Velop WIFI. First, via LAN, the router scored a 49.52 Mbps downstream, 13.52 Mbps upstream with a ping of 31 ms. Second, via WIFI, the router scored a 61.77 Mbps downstream, 15.78 Mbps upstream with a ping of 29 ms. Finally, via Velop WIFI, the router scored a 54 Mbps downstream, 11.60 Mbps upstream with a ping of 34 ms.

The Linksys MR9000 Max-Stream AC3000 Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 5 Router was also connected to a Velop mesh router, so our tests will include both LAN, WIFI and via the Velop WIFI. First, via LAN, the router scored a 95.49 Mbps downstream, 14.39 Mbps upstream with a ping of 34 ms. Second, via WIFI, the router scored a 95.71 Mbps downstream, 13.25 Mbps upstream with a ping of 33 ms. Finally, via Velop WIFI, the router scored a 117.00 Mbps downstream, 11.90 Mbps upstream with a ping of 36 ms.

As far as features, the AC1200 has four Ethernet ports, a USB 3.0 port and an eSATA port. The AC3000 has the same ports as the AC1200, except for eSATA. Otherwise, we can clearly see that the AC3000 approximately doubled the LAN, WIFI and Velop WIFI signals’ bandwidth. Clearly the AC3000 is the winner of this comparison if speed is the determining factor.

The AC3000 sets up with the Linksys application, just as all new Linksys products. However, the application takes a lot of time to add Velop to the network. On the other hand, the router was built with Velop mesh compatibility, which improves stability.
