Games – Ohio Newsletter: December 2017

Hey all,

Before I begin, I would like to let you know that after a year, I am once again a fully independent organizer. I no longer employed by Alter Reality Games or work at Ctrl Alt Elite Gaming. With that said, I have some exciting news for CardFight: Vanguard, Dragon Ball Super and Pokemon players.

Five local hobby shops have joined up with Games – Ohio (GO) to form the Ohio Circuit Series (OCS). We will begin with Pokemon League operations in December 2017 at each hobby shop and beginning in 2018, the tournaments held at each hobby shop will earn players OCS points. The details about the point system is still in the works, but the top ranked players combined from all of the hobby shops during a specified time period will receive an invite to a championship to be held at one of the five hobby shops, which will change each season.

The leagues each feature a tournament that begins 30 minutes after the league start time. Attending the league is free and participating in the tournament will have an entry fee of $5 USD. Those who participate in the league will receive a promotional card, while supplies last. Those who participate in the tournaments will earn OCS points that will be used to determine who will receive an invite to the OCS Championship.

In case you are curious, here is the current schedule for the Pokemon Leagues during the remainder of November 2017:
– Mondays @ The Hero Zone/POP Shop (Sandusky) from 4 to 7 PM
– Tuesdays @ Warhost Games (Avon Lake) from 6 to 9 PM

Beginning in December 2017, CardFight Vanguard and Dragon Ball Super will have league each week as scheduled below. If more hobby shops pick up the games and/or there are enough players regularly to support tournament play at more than one hobby shop, they may also be added to the OCS.
– DBS: Wednesdays @ Warhost Games (Avon Lake) from 6 to 9 PM
– CFV: Thursdays @ Level Two Games (Avon) from 6 to 9 PM
– CFV: Saturdays @ The Hero Zone/POP Shop (Sandusky) from 4 to 7 PM

If you want to read more details about the OCS, there are details on Games – Ohio’s website (http://www.haslage.net/cms/go/ocs/). By the way, if you play Pokemon in North-Central Ohio, join our Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/PokemonOH/) to keep up to date with our activities. In addition, you can find every store event on Games – Ohio’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pg/GamesOH/events/).

Before I leave you, do not forget about the three other Pokemon Leagues in the area…
– Thursdays @ Alter Reality Games (Medina) from 6 to 9 PM
– Saturdays @ Recess Games (North Olmsted) from 10 AM to 12 PM
– Saturdays @ Ctrl Alt Elite Gaming (Sheffield Village) from 4:30 to 7:30 PM

One last thing… There is a poll on the North-Central Ohio Pokemon group on Facebook that asks if players would be interested in Pokemon Trading Card Game Online tournaments (https://www.facebook.com/groups/PokemonOH/permalink/1997185020570485/). Let your voice be heard!
